The Instrument Rating Instructor (IRI) course qualifies the holder of the IRI(A) rating to act as
an instructor in any approved training organisation, providing specialised Instrument Flight
Instructor (IR) training.

The IRI training course is divided into 3 parts:
THEORETICAL TRAINING
NOTE
Applicants who hold or have held an instructor’s certificate are not required to take
the Teaching & Learning shall not be required to take the theoretical course Teaching
& Learning.
Authorised instructor certificates: FI(A), IRI(A), TRI(A), SFI(A), STI(A), MCC(A), FI(H), TRI(H), IRI(H), SFI(H).
PRACTICAL TRAINING
All practical hours are conducted in real flight.
TOTAL: 3 – 4 weeks.
*If you have a FI(A) rating, this would be 6.5 hours of actual flight time.
