The objective of this course is to train and prepare the student, by working on the necessary contents and programs that are required in the Open Category (A1 / A3) to take the official test of AESA (State Agency for Aviation Safety), and obtain the certificate to operate within the open category scenarios throughout the Spanish and European territory.
In the open category of subcategory A1 / A3 it is allowed to fly as long as the operation does not entail a medium or high risk, therefore flights over people will be avoided, the flight must be VLOS so the pilot, at all times, will operate the craft in sight. The maximum height allowed for activities in open category A1 / A3 will be 120 m. The pilot may be supported by an observer for the unmanned aircraft for extra safety.
For this type of operations, by no means will a prior authorization or an operational statement be necessary.
Pilots conducting open A1 / A3 operations will need to be familiar with the manufacturer’s user manual, as well as be in possession of the drone pilot competency certificate. To do this, you must take the corresponding online AESA exam, and self- practice training with the aircraft to be operated, thus developing the corresponding responsible statement by the pilot.
The approximate duration of the course is about 10 hours, although it will depend on the availability of the student.
The course consists of approximately 10 hours, divided into 3 blocks with their respective presentations, exercises and tests.
The self-practice will be carried out by the student, who will have to perform procedures and flights according to AMC2 UAS.OPEN.030 (2) (B).
World Aviation Flight Academy Training Manual provides the student with all the means and necessary knowledge to pass the official exam of 40 questions that will take place online at the State Agency for Aviation Safety.
With regards to self-practical training, the pilot must carry out as many flights as necessary to acquire a reasonable level of aptitude to operate the aircraft; This self- practice will take place before the online theory exam.
