The A320 type rating course is aimed at those candidates who want to obtain a type rating of the Airbus A320, the most demanded aircraft in the history of aviation by all airlines worldwide, being, with no doubt, the most competitive model and with more professional options within the aeronautical industry.

At WA we offer this program with an initial phase of sessions in our A320 static simulator in order to get familiar with cockpit and the different normal and abnormal procedures, before passing to the A320 Level D FFS simulator at our base in Madrid.

Our instructors have more than 15,000 real flight hours and a great training experience that guarantee their excellent professionalism.

  • For a pilot with more than 500 hours on an aircraft of similar size and performances, you must make a minimum of 4 landings, at least one with a full stop, and a Go-around.
  • In cases that do not comply with such experience, at least 6 landings must be performed, one with a complete stop, and a Go Around.

  • 1500 flight hours or 250 route sectors if a qualified FFS at level CG, C or C is used during the course.
  • 500 flight hours or 100 route sectors if using a qualified FFS at DG, D level during the course.

An additional session will be conducted at FFS, led by a TRI who will occupy a pilot position. This session will be held within 21 days of the FFS skill test.

Present and future of the A320 simulator

Nowadays, the A320 family is the most successful and versatile commercial passenger aircraft in history. Based on the concept of common elements that Airbus defended, the family can be considered as an aircraft in four sizes: the A318, A319, A320 and A321.

The future of the A320, you could say it’s already here and it’s called A320NEO, A321NEO and A321LR, New Engine Option. With new engines 17% more efficient, in addition to the “sharklets” at the ends of the wings, a significant reduction of key indicators such as fuel consumption or CO2 emissions is achieved. Also, a modern waste disposal systems provide a better  protection of the engine and, therefore, its durability.

Talking about the A320 plane, is no small feat  as it is estimated that every 1.7 seconds an A320 lands or takes off somewhere in the planet.

Therefore, the Airbus A320 type rating is one of the most popular within the qualification courses offered in the academies.
