Helped me finish the CPL phase when my original ATO in Malaga let me down. Efficient, helpful, willing to listen and understand my circumstances in order to build a custom course. Very responsive, no delays. Shaved easily 3-6 months off my training timeline. I couldn’t ask for better, bravo!

Before hiring World Aviation for the PPL(A) I spoke to 5 other 44VV schools and World Aviation was the only one that promised me (and kept their word) to set up my agenda for the theory classes and give me availability to fly with practically no time or day of the week restrictions. They have a new Tecnam aircraft with Garmin glass cockpit, the treatment is professional and friendly, I'm very happy with the choice made 🙂

It was always clear to me that I wanted to be a pilot and that I wanted to do it in a modular way. Where I always hesitated was where to study it. I started with them the PPL(A) and now I am finishing the flight hours to start the CPL(A).

FAQS / Frequently Asked Questions

There are several variables to take into account when choosing an aviation pilot school, the first of all being the choice of an ATO, here we explain everything you need to know. World Aviation Flight Academy ATO 272, is an official pilot school in Spain. Now we will talk about the important points to choose where to study aeroplane or helicopter pilot.

  • Studies offered by the school. It is important to assess the type of courses offered by the aviation school, the percentage of students who pass and the aeronautical training programme; in our case, we prepare the programme to suit you, so that you can start your course when you want and at your own pace. The experience of the instructors, the types and the available fleet, the age and maintenance of the same, is also a very important point. In our case, we have our own maintenance workshop so that the aircraft are always ready to fly. We are also committed to innovation and have recently incorporated a new simulator to continue improving the training of our students.
  • Instructors, Team and Environment. It is very important to have a team of experienced professionals and that dealing with the person who will supervise the student’s training and progress is easy. That the aeronautical atmosphere perceived in the school is favourable. From our pilot schools in Madrid (Cuatro Vientos) and Malaga, you will receive the best training in international airports and in different weather conditions.

In this article we give you some tips.

I have to know first what kind of pilot I want to be:

  • Light Aviation Pilot Licence (LAPL): allows pilots to fly recreational light aircraft up to 4 seats. It can be obtained without previous experience or specific aeronautical knowledge.
  • Private Pilot Licence (PPL ): authorises you to fly for leisure or sporting purposes or to be a co-pilot on a non-commercial flight. It is the first step towards becoming a commercial pilot. For this licence, you need a minimum training of 6 to 9 months, about 100 hours of training and 45 hours of flight time (the minimum to take the exam).
  • Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL Airplane Course): qualifies to be a pilot of non-commercial aircraft, single-engine aircraft and co-pilot in commercial aircraft. To access the training it is necessary to have the PPL licence plus 150 hours of flight time.
  • Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL): once obtained, it allows you to be a co-pilot on an airline. After more than 1500 hours of flight time, it is possible to become a pilot in command of a commercial airline aircraft. Courses usually last 2 years and involve about 200 hours of flight time.

The duration of the studies may vary depending on the type of licence: for private pilot between 6 and 9 months, for commercial pilot between 12 and 16 months, and for airline pilot 2 years. Our pilot school adapts to the needs of each student, you will be the one who sets the pace of the training.

The profession of airline pilot has general requirements. . In addition, there are specific requirements depending on the type of licence you want to obtain. In each of the licences you will see the requirements necessary to begin training.

Generally speaking, these are the conditions to be met:

  • Be between 16 and 18 years of age: to obtain a licence you must be 18 years of age or older, but you can start your training earlier. You must have a valid ID card or passport.
  • Certified photocopy of the Baccalaureate, Higher Technician or equivalent studies validated by the Ministry of Education. Student pilot candidates without a bachelor’s degree can begin their ATPL studies after passing a test conducted by the World Aviation Flight Academy.
  • Medical examination: pass a Class 2 medical examination for private pilot licences and a Class 1 medical examination for commercial pilot licences. It is carried out in an Aeronautical Medical Centre (AMC) where several specialists measure the physical capabilities of the aspiring pilot, here we give you the necessary information about the Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • English language test: each ATO may set an English language level or test to study the training. However, to become a commercial pilot you have to pass the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) exam. For commercial pilots, an advanced level of English is required.  Our school offers you previous courses to improve your level.
  • Personal interview: some academies may require an interview to assess the student’s abilities.

In a modular course, each phase you complete does not have to be repeated, it allows you maximum flexibility, allowing you to choose different dates for each module, as well as different options for classroom, blended and online training.

In our pilot school, with the modular ATPL, you become a pilot from the first time you obtain your licence and you will obtain the relevant accreditations, according to the modules you pass, without having to wait to complete the whole programme.

Our ATPL Frozen programme is developed in stages following different modules from less to more complex, deepening in each one of the subjects

In an integrated course, you either finish everything or you don’t have a licence at all. In the USA, 90% of pilots obtain their licences in a modular way. For more information, see the information on the Commercial Pilot Course (ATPL Frozen programme). You will also leave with a total of more than 200 hours of real flight time, which is a prerequisite for a job interview with an airline.

The MCC is a cockpit cooperation course. It is best done on the specific simulator of the most sold aircraft type (A320/B737). With us you will do it in a simulator based on Airbus A320, the aircraft used by the main airlines.

In our pilot school transparency is one of our maxims, that’s why in each of our courses you will find the price well explained and detailed in each of its concepts.

The price may vary depending on the licence to be obtained, although this initial investment is compensated over time by the salaries that are later earned through the practice of the profession.

You can consult the price of our entire training offer broken down by the different modalities and possible combinations in the section > Prices.

The aviation industry is expected to grow significantly, so aviation pilot schools must be prepared to provide the best training for future professionals.

In our flying school we are aware of the importance of quality training to face the market opportunities in the near future, so we care about listening and understanding the needs of each of our students, putting at their disposal all our knowledge to provide the best training. We focus on the student as our absolute priority.  We support their journey and training on an ongoing basis to ensure that they pass every stage.
